The Catholic faith is at the center of all we do at St. Austin Catholic School. Together with St. Austin Catholic Parish, our school develops “Christ-centered” students with a faith that is lived in our Catholic traditions, in prayer and worship, and in service to others.
Our Catholic beliefs can be seen and heard regularly throughout the halls of St. Austin. Students begin each day by reciting the Our Father and Prayers of the Faithful, in addition to having religion class built into the daily curriculum for all students and attending Mass as an entire school community each Friday morning.
While 80% of St. Austin students are Catholic, we proudly welcome those from all faith backgrounds. While it is required of all students to attend Mass each week, they are not required to receive communion.
Our religion curriculum is guided by the Diocese of Austin Religious Education Guidelines, which specify grade level objectives in religion.
The Missionary Society of St. Paul the Apostle is a community of Catholic priests who share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through mission preaching, media, campus ministries, parishes, downtown centers, the arts and more. Led by the Holy Spirit, the Paulist Fathers focus on evangelization (reaching out), reconciliation (bringing peace) and ecumenical and interfaith relations (seeking unity).
As a Catholic School, we are focused on shepherding our students through their religious education as they grow a deeper understanding and appreciation for their faith life. As such, all 2nd Grade students at St. Austin are given the opportunity, through our religious education curriculum, to complete their First Reconciliation and First Communion requirements.
One of the best parts about being a student at St. Austin is the opportunity to come together each Friday morning to celebrate His word and receive the Eucharist. Parents are welcome to attend mass with their students as we see this an opportunity not just for our students, but for our school community as a whole, to be in prayer together.
We invite all who may be interested to join us either in-person, or watch online via the link below, and witness for themselves the celebration of Christ.
At SACS, we place a unique emphasis on student’s sharing their faith life with their peers and finding opportunities to build life-long friendships around their shared values. Through our Mass Buddy and Faith Family programs, we are able to take the lessons students hear throughout the week in order to grow closer as a community at-large.
