Elementary School

St. Austin Catholic School’s elementary program is pivotal to our educational goals. We emphasize direct instruction within a Catholic atmosphere, ensuring students adapt to school routines while practicing good social skills. Our approach to inclusive teaching fosters a positive attitude toward learning. Our early elementary teachers are committed to student-led learning, encouraging self-motivation and initiative. First Grade
First grade at St. Austin Catholic School builds a strong foundation in reading, writing, and math, integrating thematic instruction across the curriculum. We focus on academic and moral development, recognizing that each child learns uniquely. Our goal is to guide students to excel in academics, faith, and life.

Second Grade
Second grade at St. Austin is an exciting time for students to grow closer to God. The highlight of the year is preparing for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
We cater to each student's individual needs and learning styles through acceleration and differentiation, using individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction. Comprehension strategies are taught to enhance understanding and real-world connections.
Our goal is to help students achieve their personal best, both spiritually and academically.

Third Grade 
Our 3^rd grade employs diverse strategies and learning styles to cater to each student's needs. We encourage independent learning and critical thinking.  Daily subjects include Math, Science, Social Studies, Religion, Spelling, Reading, English, and Writing. In Math, we emphasize multiplication and division, using varied problem-solving approaches. Language arts integrate vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, and grammar with reading and writing activities.
Religion is central to our education, aiming to foster a lifelong personal relationship with our Lord.

Fourth Grade
In fourth grade, students at St. Austin Catholic School are encouraged to develop independence in their thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Our curriculum covers core subjects and essential life skills such as organization, time management, and work ethic, with various class projects highlighting these skills.
Students learn in whole groups, small groups, and individual settings, fostering an environment where they can grow and understand their responsibilities. By integrating faith into daily life through prayer and action, fourth grade is a pivotal year for students to develop an appreciation for and participation in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church.

Fifth Grade
Fifth grade serves as a bridge to middle school, emphasizing collaboration and cross-curricular studies. A key highlight is the Starbase program, a five-day STEM initiative at Camp Mabry. Here, students explore STEM careers through hands-on activities, enhancing their knowledge and teamwork skills while interacting with the Texas National Guard.
Our goal is to develop strong leadership skills in our students. We incorporate activities that foster higher-order thinking, challenge students, and emphasize their responsibilities within a Catholic community.
