Every member of the St. Austin Catholic School community is called in faith to follow the one Master Teacher, Jesus Christ; called to be people of prayer and service.
We give thanks for, celebrate, and share our blessings:
- Daily: Our students share the responsibility of leading our morning prayer. Students, faculty, and visitors pause to acknowledge the blessings of a new day. Our daily prayer ritual unifies us as a school community - a community rooted in prayer.
- Weekly:
- Each Friday the students come to school dressed in their Mass Day Uniform, a sign of unity as we join to worship together as a community.
- Prepared by a different grade level each week, our school Masses are celebrations and examples of our students' deepening understanding of our faith. Selected readings, music, prayers, images, and symbols are often used during our weekly school Masses as a means to incorporate our school year theme, as well as celebrate special feasts and holy days in the liturgical life of our Church.
- All kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students are teamed with older "Mass Buddies" who serve as spiritual role models to the younger students. Special friendships develop from attending the liturgy together during the year.
- Extensions of our community worship experience are our gatherings in "Faith Families," comprised of students representing the different grade levels. Our Faith Families provide a nice opportunity for students to engage in varied activities in a mixed-grade/age setting. As students from different grade levels get to know each other, our community is strengthened and lifelong relationships are created.
- Monthly: Our school community participates in many varied social and community outreach projects. The projects include collecting money, food, or clothing, or offering physical assistance. Through our social outreach, our community acknowledges our bountiful blessings while helping our neighbors.
